The Economics (Turkish) program at Istanbul Kültür University was established in 1999, and the Economics (English) program started admitting students in the 2024–2025 academic year. The department offers 5 Master’s programs and 1 Ph.D. program. As of the 2024–2025 academic year, the department has 823 undergraduate alumni and 199 graduate alumni. It continues its educational activities with 149 currently enrolled students.
The mission of the department is to educate individuals who can develop solutions to economic problems, uphold ethical values, and contribute to society. It also aims to support students in following current developments and achieving their career goals through collaborations with public and private sectors, and to carry out scientific research at both national and international levels.
The Department of Economics at Kültür offers an academic framework where students can engage with the business world, gain the qualifications to contribute to the country’s economic development, and follow global developments. With a constantly updated curriculum, the department adapts to a rapidly changing world through courses such as Artificial Intelligence, Crypto Assets, Industry 4.0, Environmental Economics, Coding, Data Mining, and Digital Product Development.
With its strong academic staff, the Economics Department contributes to scientific knowledge while also connecting students with representatives from the private and public sectors, NGOs, and academia through various scientific events. Over the last five years, the department has organized 34 seminars, 8 panels, 3 conferences, 3 congresses, and 1 workshop. During the same period, the academic staff of the Economics Department have produced 73 publications—37 national and 36 international—and the department has published 10 scientific books.

Ekonomi Kulübü, operating under the department, organizes various activities and brings together students from other departments who are also interested in economics.
