EPIDEMIC AND DIFFICULT TIMES: WOMEN AND INFORMAL WORKERS

The Department of Economics organized a webinar titled “Epidemic and Difficult Times: Women and Informal Workers” on Friday, May 21, 2021. In the event, where Assoc. Prof. Hasan Bakır from Uludağ University was the speaker, the structural issues of the labour market in Turkey were discussed in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Res. Assist. Derya Zayim, one of the academic staff of the Department of Economics, was the moderator of the event.

"MEGA TRENDS IN FUTURE FINANCIAL MARKETS"

The Department of Economics organized an e-seminar titled "Mega Trends in the Financial Markets of the Future" on Friday, May 7, 2021. Tahsin Aygün, CEO of Marbling Group, who participated in the event as a speaker, made a presentation on the mega trends that may arise in the future in financial markets. The sectors that are likely to become a trend in the financial markets were discussed in the event, in which students actively participated.

"POST-COVID-19 CLIMATE CHANGE AND SOCIAL TRANSFORMATION"

In cooperation with the Department of Economics and the Economy Club, an e-seminar titled "Post-COVID-19 Climate Change and Social Transformation" was held on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at 19.45. The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Investment Advisor and Economist Assoc. Prof. Barış Karapınar attended the event as a speaker and discussed climate change in general.

THE FUTURE ECONOMY BOOK, PREPARED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS, HAS BEEN PUT ON THE MARKET BY IKU PUBLISHING HOUSE

The Future Economy book, prepared with 41 authors and 28 chapters upon the call of the Department of Economics, was published by Istanbul Kültür University Publishing House. The book, which focuses on the outlook of the future economy from the world of cryptocurrency to blockchain, from artificial intelligence to human resources, was put up for sale on the publisher's website (www.ikuyayinevi.com) with a 40 percent discount.

Derya Zayim presented their papers titled "Inflation and Currency Relations in Turkey: Time Series Analysis with New Findings’’ in the congress named "ICE-TEA2021- The Seventh International Conference on Economics" organized online by Turkey Economic Association on April 9-11, 2021.

“ENERGY SECTOR AND THE EXPECTATIONS FOR THE FUTURE”

The Department of Economics, organized an e-seminar titled “Energy Sector and The Expectations for the Future” moderated by one of our academics Assoc. Prof. Begüm Erdil Şahin on March 24, 2021 Wednesday, at 14.00. In the seminar, in which Emre Yıldız, Shell Energy Turkey Country Manager and Member of Board of Directors, attended as the speaker, the expectations about the sector’s future, sustainable energy policies and the global developments in the sector were discussed.

The Department of Economics organized a webinar titled "Islamic Economics Scientific Research Program and Its Contributions to Science" on the Adobe Connect Virtual Classroom Application on Friday, March 19, 2021. Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Faculty Member & Islamic Economics Research Center Advisory Board Member Prof Dr. Hakan Sarıbaş attended the event where Research Assistant İsmail Ertek, a faculty member of the Department of Economics, was the moderator.

"YOUNG PEOPLE KNOWING THEIR BUDGETS"

In cooperation with the Department of Economics and FODER, an e-seminar titled "Young People Knowing Their Budget" was held on the ZOOM platform on Monday, March 22, 2021, at 17:00, as part of the Global Money Week. At the event where FODER Secretary General, Dr. Yasemin Demirbağ was the speaker, issues such as budget, savings, income-expenditure balance, investment, demand-need distinction were discussed by conveying general information about financial literacy awareness and money management.
